About
I am Jon "Chickens" and this is my story (gazes moodily into distance and fades to sepia).
I was lucky enough to have been Mark Reilly's first student at Enigma when I got taken on, in the closest you can get to being an apprentice these days. We made a lot of frames in the year and a half I was there. Then I fell off my bike after being hit by the full weight of my own awesomeness on the trail. I dislocated my wrist and needed an operation so there was no way I could carry on working for someone else building frames but it was a realistic option to try to work on my own very, very slowly.
I gradually tooled up waiting for the op and now build frames on my own in a little shipping container. The container however is a much more discrete environment in which to blow my own trumpet ahem...
I've been doing this professionally for over a decade now. I have raced globally at a sub county level (well once, twice if you think Scotland is as independent as the Scots would have you believe). I am a qualified mountain bike instructor. I designed the G2 Revolver course with friends, and was one of the original Brighton Big Dog organisers. I am a trained astrophysicist. I met David Prowse at Hamleys once, when I was seven.
Here's a little film I did with my friends over at Morvélo. Fun times.
